The Autism Society of North Carolina raised over $45,000 at the 7th?annual WNC Run/Walk. Proceeds from the event fund autism services in Western North Carolina. Over 500 runners and walkers, 150 volunteers, and a variety of businesses participated in the event to impact the lives of those affected by autism. UNC-Asheville hosted the run for the second time.
Wells Fargo announced a $250,000 donation to the Wake Tech Foundation's major gifts campaign, called "The Ripple Effect." The gift will fund the Wake Tech/Wells Fargo Center for Entrepreneurship, established in 2010 to offer resources for small business owners and would-be entrepreneurs. The gift affirms Wells Fargo's continuing support of the center and of Wake Tech's efforts to foster local enterprise and economic growth.

In its second year, the value of donated items, purchased by Walmart shoppers, more than doubled from $162,850.71 to $356,931.08.?

The Autism Society of North Carolina (ASNC) announced the launch of IGNITE, a unique, new program that supports adults with High Functioning Autism (HFA) or Asperger Syndrome (AS) in the Charlotte Metropolitan area. The membership-based community program is the first of its kind in the nation and is made possible with founding support from the Evernham Family Racing for a Reason, a 501(c)(3) organization started by NASCAR crew chief legend Ray Evernham. Opening this fall in Davidson, IGNITE's mission is to enable adults with HFA or AS to enjoy a better quality of life as valued members of the community in which they live and work.

High school and college students who will be home for the holidays will have a chance to win a "Holiday Heroes Scholarship" from the?Community Blood Center of the Carolinas (CBCC).To qualify for a "Holiday Heroes Scholarship," students must: choose a blood drive location in their community; select a date between Nov. 18-25 or between Dec. 22-Jan. 6, 2013; recruit friends, family and neighbors to donate blood; and collect a minimum of 25 units. CBCC will award a $1,000 scholarship to the student who collects the most units.
